Milliways - Mal Reynolds/Jack Bauer. All Amy's fault.
Notice how I never take credit/blame for these things. I don't know if that's a good thing that I am honest about who gives me ideas, or bad because I am so easily swayed into such shenanigans. If you figure it out, lemme know.

Mal's known Jack Bauer since 2518, his time --

"Reynolds, be happy I'm out of bullets. It's all I'm saying. Be happy."

And Mal's asked Jack for help, in that 'Let's be bad guys' way that he's stolen from Jayne on occasion, numerous times.

"What are you talkin' about, Bauer? I think red is a very flattering color on you."

"Let's just get this over with, zi xihuan de." Practiced Chinese spit like a curse, Jack pulling the red tassel's of a Companion's novice robes over his head.

Inara doesn't volunteer ideas for jobs on a very frequent basis, but this one was perfect -- a training house, collection boxes from the entirety of the system, lots of people, scenario to blend into --

Men only. Gorramit.

Mal walks through the halls at a fast clip, but uncovered in the robes from his marriage on Verbena. They're accurate, and of a higher status than most they pass in the corridors, so the way is clear. The locked chambers are easily picked open, and Mal's ready to reach down and pull the knife out of his waistband, when Jack froze in place.

"Someone's coming," he mouths, and with nowhere to hide, Jack checks Mal into the wall of the entranceway to the chambers, his hood falling back to his shoulders with the force that Jack's mouth meets Mal's.

That someone does walk in the room, clearing his throat at the sight of a Companion's favorite and a novice together. "Excuse me."

Jack pulls away, and Mal is the first to recover. "[I was making a delivery to the room. Forgive my student. He is...eager.]" The third man shifts his gaze between Jack and Mal, nods, and departs.

Mal, for his part, spins on his heel to look at Jack. "Remind me to never take you on a job again."

Jack turns back to the task at hand, but he is grinning. "What? Did I not make the grade?" he jokes, even as Mal scowls at him. The only answer Jack receives is as they have almost made their escape: "You were passable."

Jack stares at Mal blankly.

"...As a novice."

Of course.

The only thing I find more hilarious than the concept of Mal and Jack infiltrating a training house is the idea of it actually being Jack Bauer isntead of Harkness.

Those poor novices might get quite the wrong idea, contantly being thrown up against walls and having 'WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR?' screamed at them. :D!
